Many years ago, Marlin and I went up to Yellowstone to stay with Mike, he had a 2-bedroom apartment in the middle of the park. If you don’t know Marlin and Mike, just call them A and B because, well if you don’t know them, it just doesn’t matter. Marlin and I rode our motorcycles up and would alternate days, hike one day, ride the next. A great vacation! One day we went over to geyser basin and hiked around. Afterword went into the Old Faithful Lodge. If you go to Yellowstone, go to the Old Faithful Lodge. Then look around at how close the 1988 fires got to the Lodge. Then look up inside the lodge and think how fast that place would have gone up in flames if it wasn’t for the efforts of the fireman. What a National treasure!
After our hike, we went into the lodge for a drink. The Morning Glory Pool Martini is named after one of the features in Geyser Basin, a must see by the way (and PLEASE, do not throw trash in it! Or jump in!!). I’ve made them infrequently ever since.
Ice
4 shots Tequila Blanco
3 shots Triple Sec
1 Lime, Juiced
½ shot Blue Curacao
Place ice in a shaker. Add all the ingredients except Blue Curacao. Shake. Pour into a Martini glass. Gently pour in the Blue Curacao, it will settle to the bottom. Next time I make this, I will add a wedge of orange on a toothpick to stir the drink just before sipping. It does taste as good as it looks!
